SSD Now Offering Secure Media Destruction

South Seas Data, a member of the McCormick Family of Businesses, has added Secure Media Destruction to its suite of services.

South Seas Data (SSD) can now manage the entire technology lifecycle, from purchase and assembly, to deployment and depot services, to retirement and destruction.  Upon arrival at SSD, equipment marked for destruction is stored in security cages in a restricted facility.  When destruction is complete, SSD provides a certificate of destruction and recycles any scrap material.  The data destruction process meets Department of Defense standards, as well as NIST 800-88 guidelines for media sanitization.

SSD will provide the service as a one-time project or on a regularly scheduled basis.  SSD is currently accepting the following media:

  • Solid state drives
  • Hard drives – consumer and enterprise
  • Thumb drives, SD cards, external drives or products that contain memory data
  • Portable electronic devices (cell phones, laptops)
  • Decommissioned laptops and computer systems
